You need to be able to provide access to a DPP and a prescribing learning environment. If you do not have access to a DPP and prescribing environment in your main training site, then a rotation into another site is likely to be the best way to provide this for your foundation trainee pharmacist.

All foundation training sites are required to submit a training plan to NHS England. This plan must demonstrate how the site will meet the training, assessment, and supervision requirements of the Foundation Trainee Pharmacist Programme.

No, accreditation by the GPhC is no longer required. From the 2026/27 training year, training plans must be submitted to NHS England, instead of the GPhC as in previous years. The training plan(s) developed for each training site/programme is required to demonstrate how the assessment strategy will be implemented during the training year. From the 2026/27 training year, NHS England takes on delegated responsibility from the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) for the management and delivery of the Foundation Pharmacist Training Programme (FTPP). The requirements are outlined here
