London, UK – 20 June 2025
ProPharmace, a leading provider of pharmacy education and training in the UK, has been appointed by NHS England to deliver the Foundation Training Programme for Foundation Trainee Pharmacists across London, the East of England, and the South East. With pharmacy education undergoing one of its most significant transformations, this major appointment puts ProPharmace at the forefront of supporting the next generation of pharmacists. The newly commissioned programme, which will be mandatory for all Foundation Trainee Pharmacists starting in 2025, will ensure trainees benefit from a consistent, high-quality training experience across these regions. The training programme will bring together trainees from all sectors of practice to learn collaboratively, supporting the development of prescribing skills and capabilities that build on the knowledge and skills acquired during the Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) degree. The training will focus on helping trainees develop the skills and knowledge required to demonstrate the GPhC learning outcomes in practice, with particular emphasis on areas that are most challenging to deliver within the workplace.Noma Al-Ahmad, CEO of ProPharmace, commented:
“This appointment comes at a pivotal moment for pharmacy education, as newly registered pharmacists in the UK will assume prescribing responsibilities from the point of registration and take on greater clinical roles than ever before.
The programme is crucial in equipping Foundation Trainees with the skills and confidence to excel as future pharmacist independent prescribers. We are honoured to have been selected as the delivery partner for these regions, reflecting the strong alignment between our mission and NHS England’s continued commitment to consistency, equity, and excellence in pharmacy training. With our extensive experience in pharmacy education, particularly within foundation training, ProPharmace is uniquely positioned to provide high-quality, consistent support to trainees. We are proud to contribute to the development of the next generation of pharmacists who will play a vital role in delivering outstanding patient care within the NHS.We look forward to seeing the positive impact this programme will have in strengthening and developing the pharmacy workforce for the future.”
Rosie James , Pharmacy Training Programme Director, commented:
“This is an exciting opportunity to deliver a transformative programme that supports trainees at such a critical stage in their professional journey. Our focus will be on creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment that helps every trainee develop the clinical, professional, and prescribing skills they need to deliver compassionate and clinically excellent care to patients. We recognise that not all trainees will complete prescribing training within the Foundation Year, and this programme has been designed to ensure they are still supported to develop the essential foundations for prescribing, enabling smooth progression to independent prescribing at a later stage. We’re committed to working collaboratively with training sites and supervisors to ensure a consistently high-quality experience across all sectors and pathways.”
