Learning Outcomes

Overview

This module aims to provide a thorough understanding of the Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP) role and its significance within the healthcare system. Participants will learn to recognise their pivotal role in personal learning, professional growth, and in fostering the development of others. The module covers the responsibilities of a supervisor in ensuring patient safety, encompassing direct and indirect supervision.

Key emphasis will be placed on applying essential reference frameworks, including the GPhC post-registration independent prescribing learning outcomes and the RPS competency framework for prescribers. Participants will learn effective collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team to create conducive learning environments. They will also gain skills in coordinating and implementing clinical governance strategies to optimise patient care and safety.

Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of trainee learning outcomes and the pivotal role of learning contracts in establishing clear, mutually agreed upon objectives for effective learning and development. Additionally, participants will learn how to assess performance against set criteria, identifying both poor and good performance, and appropriately raising concerns when necessary.
